Ayer lanzamos en Valparaíso la segunda Conferencia “Nuestro Océano” (“Our Ocean”) a efectuarse en la Quinta Región entre el 5 y 6 de octubre próximo cuya primera versión se realizó en Washington D.C. el año pasado. A través de este evento queremos llamar la atención de la opinión pública nacional e internacional acerca de la importancia que tendrá dicha conferencia.

El Ministro de Relaciones Exteriores, Heraldo Muñoz, encabezó hoy el lanzamiento de la Conferencia Nuestro Océano 2015, que se realizará en la Región de Valparaíso el 5 y 6 de octubre. Al evento asistirán más de 400 figuras del ámbito político, académico y de la sociedad civil comprometidas con la protección del océano, entre los que se incluyen el Secretario de Estado de Estados Unidos, John Kerry, y el Príncipe Alberto de Mónaco. El Subsecretario de Relaciones Exteriores, Edgardo Riveros, junto al Embajador de los Estados Unidos en Chile, Michael Hammer, participaron esta tarde en Valparaíso en la intervención de un mural para conmemorar el Día de la Tierra en el marco de la segunda conferencia “Our Ocean”, que está siendo organizada por el Gobierno de Chile y que se realizará el 5 y 6 de octubre próximos en Valparaíso. Today, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Heraldo Muñoz, headed the launch of the Our Ocean 2015 Conference, to be held in the Region of Valparaiso on October 5 and 6. The event will be attended by more than 400 political, academic and civil society figures committed to protecting the ocean, including the Secretary of State of the United States of America, John Kerry, and Prince Albert of Monaco.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Heraldo Muñoz, and the representative of National Geographic (NatGeo), Enric Sala, signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the production and diffusion of the Our Ocean Conference 2015, to be held in Valparaiso on October 5th and 6th, and that will be attended by high authorities from around the world.
This afternoon in Valparaíso, acting Minister of Foreign Minister, Edgardo Riveros, along with Ambassador of the United States to Chile, Michael Hammer, participated in the unveiling of a mural to commemorate Earth Day and as part of the second “Our Ocean” conference which is being organized by the Government of Chile and will be held on October 5th and 6th in Valparaíso.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Heraldo Muñoz, met with the Intendant of Valparaíso, Ricardo Bravo, to discuss the “Our Ocean” conference. The Minister explained that this event, to be held in Region V on October 5th and 6th, “aims at protecting our oceans against the threats of acidification, illegal fishing and pollution.”
Yesterday, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Heraldo Muñoz, met with his French counterpart, Laurent Fabius. The Secretary of State said he was very pleased with the meeting, at the invitation of the French authority. Minister Muñoz explained that the purpose of the meeting was “to review bilateral relations, especially since the President of the Republic, Michelle Bachelet, will make an official visit to France in June, as she has been invited by President François Hollande.”
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Heraldo Muñoz, spoke at the “Our Ocean” Conference organized by the State Department of the United States, held Washington, D.C. During his speech, the Secretary of State reiterated Chile’s commitment to the protection of the ocean and announced the accession of Chile to the “1995 United Nations New York Agreement on Straddling Fish Stocks and Highly Migratory Fish Stocks” and strengthening the policy of our country to Combat Illegal Unreported and Unregulated Fishing (IUU).
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Heraldo Muñoz – in company of the deputy Minister of National Defense, Marcos Robledo and the deputy Vice-Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture – announced this morning Chile’s accession to the “United Nations Agreement on Straddling Fish Stock and Highly Migratory Fish Stocks, New York, 1995.” He also announced the strengthening of the policy of Combatting Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated (IUU) Fishing.
